This coming Sunday, February 18th I will be doing a presentation on my sabbatical up at Coeur de Terre Winery. The presentation will start at 3:00 p.m.. I will share a little bit about the research I did while on leave, but will spend a majority of the time talking about crush and how wine is actually created.
Getting ready for the presentation has been a lot of fun. It's given me a chance to go back through all of the photos that I took while I was working up at Coeur de Terre. There are a lot of them! I've included some of my favorites in this post. I just love the way the fall colors are set off by the wispy fog in the photo above.
The Viognier cluster in the photo above is another favorite. I just happened to catch it while the sun was setting so that the light actually illuminates the interior of some of the grapes so you can see the seeds inside. I also love the single tendril of a spider web trailing off in the distance.
And finally this shot of the rock that gives Coeur de Terre (heart of earth) it's name. Scott and Lisa discovered this rock while they were clearing away blackberries and other debris from the property. This was taken early on a frosty morning in late October. In the Bible vineyards are constantly used as a symbol for blessing. Hanging out in one for a harvest season showed me why that is true. I hope you'll be able to join us this Sunday. Many of the wines that Scott Neal has made have sold out. His Pinot Gris sold out amazingly fast last year. The block designate Pinot Noirs are only available to club members, and his Willamette Valley Pinot Noir also sold out last year. Come and taste these beautiful wines, and if you like them, buy now. They may not be here tomorrow.
